Ever since I commenced my research I have been constantly discovering, compiling and amending the Erwood Descendant Report, the result of my own research and several contacts made over the years. Despite all that, years ago I reached a frustrating halt at the end of the 1770's.
 

Early in 2012, I was contacted by Steve Erwood, a contact I had made several years before. He had undertaken extensive research on the line and provided me with wonderful information to some grey areas that had been somewhat frustrating and confusing over the years. The most important aspect of this information was the discovery that my James Erwood had not one, but two marriages and that my descent is from his second marriage to Hannah Fisher, not his first marriage to Hannah Wheeler as I had previously thought.

It is very exciting to have the family now back to the mid 1500's after sitting at that annoying dead end for so long. I am extremely grateful to Steve for all his work and checking and cannot thank him enough for pointing me in the right direction (and as a result of this establishing that we are in fact connnected).

Erwood Census Records ...

Census Records are a wonderful source of information. Not only do they provide us with an address, they also are the source of other invaluable information relating to our research. However, I have certainly found that some information, particularly ages, vary from census to census! For example, on the 1891 Census, Julia Erwood is listed as 24 years old (which she was), but in the 1901 Census, just ten years later, she is listed as being 51!! Likewise, it's interesting to note that in one census people can't remember where they were born, and in the next they can!
