The pages in this section will cover both sides of the genealogy of my maternal grandmother, Dorothy Bertha Birrell - the Birrell and Sisson lines.
It was my research into the Birrell line many years ago that made me realise that Scottish records, along with the penchant of its people to adopt the traditional Scottish naming pattern for their children where possible, is literally 'manna from heaven' for the genealogist!! These jointly resulted in generations being discovered and verified on a number of these lines.

I always remember my Nana Dot speaking with great pride about both her families and their achievements and know she would be pleased that their stories are being preserved.
Dorothy Bertha Birrell
26th June 1907 - 24th May 1997
I will always be grateful to her for her willingness to help with information when I first started my research back in 1988. She had an amazing memory and her assistance at that stage was invaluable.
