Barclay & Associated Families ...

The name Barclay fits into my genealogy in that it was my mother-in-law's maiden name. I have been quite fortunate with my Barclay research as the original settler, John Barclay, arrived in the 1840s and the family are well documented in the Heywood & Drumborg (near Portland, Victoria) regions. John and Janet Barclay had a large family, with one of their sons, Robert, marrying Maria Bannam. Robert Barclay and Maria Bannam were my husband's great-grandparents. My research has also been greatly assisted by the books and research of Vanda Savill.

Lorna June Chambers (nee Barclay) passed away on the 29th July 2008 at the age of 84, only six weeks after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Known throughout her life as June, she was unquestionably one of the most inspirational woman I have ever known. To her family, she was not only our mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, but she was our friend as well. When she died, I received a condolence message that described her as a "beautiful soul" - for me that is just about the perfect description of a woman who left her mark on so many people. The void she has left in the lives of all those who knew and loved her can only be summed up in one word ... indescribable. (Click here to read the Eulogy I delivered at her funeral).

I would like to dedicate all my Barclay & associated families research to my adored mother-in-law

Lorna June Barclay

1st June 1924 - 29th July 2008

Rest In Peace Darling
